Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the third-party company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Rusk County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be kept for the purpose of responding. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the site's systems may automatically receive basic technical and usage details:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Rusk County Criminal History does not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Its reference material identifies how to request records from the Rusk County Sheriff's Office, Rusk County Circuit Court, Wisconsin Department of Justice Crime Information Bureau, and Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the site's search boxes. Information submitted to a partner tool is governed by that company's privacy policy rather than this one. Each provider decides its own retention and disclosure practices, which we cannot control. Review the applicable policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Rusk County offices, Wisconsin court and agency sites, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy terms control. Read those terms before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted advertising. We do not run that tracking infrastructure.

We do not sell personal information. Data may nevertheless be available to these limited categories of recipients:

Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with a visitor's location and the law that applies. The Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31–19.39, governs access to records held by public authorities, while Wis. Stat. § 165.83 and Wis. Stat. § 165.84 govern state criminal-history collection and reporting. Those government-record laws do not turn this private website into a public records custodian. With respect to data held by us, you may:
